Bottom depth and fishing depth
Distinguish bed depth, rig depth and bottom support.
- Cast first and read the local bed depth; it need not equal the scene maximum.
- Change depth alone and observe whether the bait hangs clear or gains bottom support.
- Recheck after moving or changing the landing point.
