Rod lift, side pressure and netting

  1. Match bait and depth, or use the suggested rig. Fish patrol habitat zones and groundbait attracts existing fish. Strike after a sustained signal; an inspection or missed strike never guarantees a hook-up.
  2. Watch tension and surges. E lifts/guides; release to ease pressure. Rod lift and side pressure change tip position and force direction. The hand-rod line has a fixed length and is never automatically reeled shorter.
  3. Species have different run, turn, inspection and float-signal rhythms; individual mass also matters. Sustained overload breaks line, prolonged slack loses the hook. Maximum lift is not always appropriate.
  4. Once the tired fish is within reach, Net starts a short dip, scoop and lift. A landing is recorded only after completion; leaving reach cancels the scoop. Motion coefficients are teaching approximations.
